Latest PWDA News - find out about Mardi Gras and our tribute to Joan Hume

The latest issue of our newsletter is out now, with information about the decision not to hold a Royal Commission into violence and abuse of people with disability and our tribute to Joan Hume, OAM.

Our President, Bonnie Millen said:

In early March we received the devastating news  that the Federal Government has decided not to go ahead with the much needed Royal Commission into violence and abuse of people with disability. This is such a shock, and I particularly feel for all those people who bravely shared their stories with the Senate Inquiry into violence, held in 2015. We are fighting this decision and will keep you up to date on how to join the campaign.
It was great to see so many members at the Special General Meeting, where we updated our constitution to take us one step closer to becoming a company. This is a reflection of the strength of each one of our members, joining together to build PWDA into the future.

I had such a great time at Mardi Gras, with a record number of people with disability marching in the parade - you were all amazing!
